Kooley High x DSCVRY: We Love the 90s Recap
this is how we get down in Raleigh, NC
Mission 025: Second Star to the Right
Discovery is all about DJ’s playing what they want and you dancing your ass off. 24 successful missions down! Please join us as we celebrate 2 years of dancing, music, and most of all new friends. Last year we gave you the gift of one of favorite DJ/Producers. This year we do it again………..
This month’s guest: YUNG SKEETER (Dim Mak, Moodswing)
Trevor McFedries aka Yung Skeeter (formerly known as DJ Skeet Skeet) is an anomaly. Not many people can say they consider Katy Perry, Odd Future, Trash Talk and Skrillex friends but that is normal for “Yung Skeeter” a DJ/Producer who has been associated with most of LA’s emerging music scenes for the last 5 years. He has the exploits in “urban music” making beats for artists like Chris Brown and Azealia Banks while having a top 10 album in 2007 with his rap group Shwayze. And all the punk cred one could muster, playing in hardcore bands for most of his youth, straight edge till this day and not too long ago playing a show in between his friends Trash Talk and Touche Amore. Skeet is still noted to be the first DJ to play Van’s Warped Tour and has been commissioned remixes for everybody from Black Eyed Peas to Broken Social Scene.
But most people would tell you he’s one of the DJs responsible for the grown of “EDM” in America alongside his label head Steve Aoki and peers like Diplo, A-Trak and others. Having such roots led long-time friend Katy Perry to reach out and book Skeet as support for her entire “California Dreams” stadium tour. In short Yung Skeeter or “Skeet” is a look into the future of creatives – an endless resource of music, culture and technology – that have lead massive companies like Spotify to bring him on as a full time employee and “DJ in Residence,” and magazines like Paper and Blackbook naming him their DJ of the year. 2013 will see Skeet launching a new radio show alongside Steve Aoki as well as a heavy catalog of content – whether that be mixtapes, original productions, or remixes.

Mission 024: It Worked In Episode VII
Discovery is all about DJ’s playing what they want and you dancing your ass off. There’s nothing better than being able to finally book a guest you’ve wanted to showcase for a long time. Time for another dose of NC….
This month’s guest: Jubilee/Mixpak/Brooklyn Radio/BK,NY
Though now splitting her time between Miami and Brooklyn, XLR8R’s “artist to watch” Jubilee will always be Brooklyn’s bass sweetheart. Known for her rambunctious combination of upfront bass music, UK house, and tropical flavors, she has become a surefire remedy for ailing dancefloors around the globe.
Co-opting her name from the X-Men character who shot fireworks out of her hands, Jubilee works similar magic when she steps into the DJ booth. But she’s also simply Jess, the one-time South Florida raver who grew up obsessively listening to Miami bass on the radio and dancing the night away at underground breaks parties. After making the move to NYC, she quickly infiltrated the DJ circuit and began turning heads with her knowledge of all things bass.
It’s the sweet mix of underground bass and tropical vibes that brings Jubilee from clubs and warehouse parties to the comfort of your own home. Her radio show Fireworks, on both Brooklyn Radio and Electric Soundstage (iHeartRadio’s new electronic station), continuously features fellow global producers such as Sinden, Bok Bok, Mike Q, and Star Eyes. Prior to Fireworks, she has DJed on East Village Radio and put together well received guest mixes for “The Mix Up” on Australia’s Triple J Radio and XLR8R Magazine’s esteemed podcast series.

Here’s a recap from Friday’s party with Sinjin Hawke.
Mission 020: Lights and Crystal Dust
Discovery is all about DJ’s playing what they want and you dancing your ass off. This has been a truly amazing summer. If you missed a DSCVRY this summer, you forgiven. However, you won’t want to miss this one. Fresh off an insane set at Boiler Room LA and live set at New York’s MoMA PS1, DSCVRY proudly presents…….
This month guest: SINJIN HAWKE (Pelican Fly Records)
Mission 019: The Return of Noctua
Discovery is all about DJ’s playing what they want and you dancing your ass off. Last May the stars aligned and one of Discovery’s most amazing nights went down. Well this month the comet returns. We have birthdays to celebrate, old friends to welcome, and tunes to blast. THIS IS A HOMECOMING.
This month’s guest: WILLY JOY (Trouble and Bass)
After months of attempt, we can finally announce the return of Discovery’s favorite DJ. His set from last year is considered by many to be the best we have ever had. Since then Willy Joy has circled the globe a couple more times, put out an amazing EP, created a slew of dope remixes, and secured a place within the infamous Trouble and Bass family. Now he has returned to make sure our dance floor don’t forget his name.
For those that don’t know:
Chicago partymaster Willy Joy’s DJ sets and original productions have been packing sweaty dancefloors across the country from major festivals like Lollapalooza to sweaty illegal warehouse raves and Mad Decent block parties. His releases with Trouble & Bass, Mad Decent and more have been tearing up clubs across the country, getting support from the likes of Diplo, Drop The Lime, Brodinski & BBC Radio 1. His now-dormant “Fly By Night” parties also defined and became infamous touchstones of the eclectic new sound coming out of the producers of the Windy City. With near-constant touring throughout the USA and beyond, Willy is set to blow up fast. URB Magazine named him one of the Next 100 artists to watch - come see him live and you’ll instantly know why. Willy is known for blending disparate sounds into a single, ecstatic, live moment.
