Mission 025: Second Star to the RightDiscovery is all about DJ’s playing what they want and you dancing your ass off. 24 successful missions down! Please join us as we celebrate 2 years of dancing, music, and most of all new friends. Last year we gave you the gift of one of favorite DJ/Producers. This year we do it again………..This month’s guest: YUNG SKEETER (Dim Mak, Moodswing)Trevor McFedries aka Yung Skeeter (formerly known as DJ Skeet Skeet) is an anomaly. Not many people can say they consider Katy Perry, Odd Future, Trash Talk and Skrillex friends but that is normal for “Yung Skeeter” a DJ/Producer who has been associated with most of LA’s emerging music scenes for the last 5 years. He has the exploits in “urban music” making beats for artists like Chris Brown and Azealia Banks while having a top 10 album in 2007 with his rap group Shwayze. And all the punk cred one could muster, playing in hardcore bands for most of his youth, straight edge till this day and not too long ago playing a show in between his friends Trash Talk and Touche Amore. Skeet is still noted to be the first DJ to play Van’s Warped Tour and has been commissioned remixes for everybody from Black Eyed Peas to Broken Social Scene. But most people would tell you he’s one of the DJs responsible for the grown of “EDM” in America alongside his label head Steve Aoki and peers like Diplo, A-Trak and others. Having such roots led long-time friend Katy Perry to reach out and book Skeet as support for her entire “California Dreams” stadium tour. In short Yung Skeeter or “Skeet” is a look into the future of creatives – an endless resource of music, culture and technology – that have lead massive companies like Spotify to bring him on as a full time employee and “DJ in Residence,” and magazines like Paper and Blackbook naming him their DJ of the year. 2013 will see Skeet launching a new radio show alongside Steve Aoki as well as a heavy catalog of content – whether that be mixtapes, original productions, or remixes.http://www.eatskeet.com/http://soundcloud.com/skeetskeetYour Hosts:NIXXED BLNGxBDGT F THE BITERS21+ $7, 18+ $9Doors at 10:00, Dancefloor til 2 amBE EARLY!!!! Mission 024: It Worked In Episode VII
Discovery is all about DJ’s playing what they want and you dancing your ass off. There’s nothing better than being able to finally book a guest you’ve wanted to showcase for a long time. Time for another dose of NC….This month’s guest: Jubilee/Mixpak/Brooklyn Radio/BK,NYThough now splitting her time between Miami and Brooklyn, XLR8R’s “artist to watch” Jubilee will always be Brooklyn’s bass sweetheart. Known for her rambunctious combination of upfront bass music, UK house, and tropical flavors, she has become a surefire remedy for ailing dancefloors around the globe.Co-opting her name from the X-Men character who shot fireworks out of her hands, Jubilee works similar magic when she steps into the DJ booth. But she’s also simply Jess, the one-time South Florida raver who grew up obsessively listening to Miami bass on the radio and dancing the night away at underground breaks parties. After making the move to NYC, she quickly infiltrated the DJ circuit and began turning heads with her knowledge of all things bass. It’s the sweet mix of underground bass and tropical vibes that brings Jubilee from clubs and warehouse parties to the comfort of your own home. Her radio show Fireworks, on both Brooklyn Radio and Electric Soundstage (iHeartRadio’s new electronic station), continuously features fellow global producers such as Sinden, Bok Bok, Mike Q, and Star Eyes. Prior to Fireworks, she has DJed on East Village Radio and put together well received guest mixes for “The Mix Up” on Australia’s Triple J Radio and XLR8R Magazine’s esteemed podcast series.

Mission 023: Alderaan Lives!Discovery is all about DJ’s playing what they want and you dancing your ass off. There’s nothing better than being able to finally book a guest you’ve wanted to showcase for a long time. Time for another dose of NC….This month’s guest: KT CAUSTIC (Identity Theft, RWD)
You won’t hear schizophrenic sampling in a KT Caustic set. You won’t ever have to witness anything being “slayed,” nor will you ever hear noise combat actual music. What you will discover about KT is that her DJing style has a keen insight to a vast array of intellectual production. Whether it’s Dark Techno from the likes Maetrik, or the sensual Deep House of Maya Jane Coles, or even the innovative booty-bass tracks from the Dirtybird label, KT definitely knows how to hone in on her audience with her eclectic musical interests. Teaming up with some of the premier promoters and venues in the Carolinas, KT has opened up for some of the greatest talents in our industry. Juxtaposing technical abilities, with her musical creativity, KT’s talent is both bold and refreshing. When you listen to a KT Caustic set, expect to be wowed, expect to not recognize any tracks, but most importantly, expect to have fun. Because why would you want to have your face melted, if you can have your mind opened instead?http://www.mixcloud.com/ktcaustic/http://www.facebook.com/KTCausticYour Host:NIXXEDBLNGxBDGT21+ $5, 18+ $7Doors at 10:00, Dancefloor til 2 amBE EARLY!!!! Here’s a recap from Friday’s party with Sinjin Hawke.

Mission 020: Lights and Crystal DustDiscovery is all about DJ’s playing what they want and you dancing your ass off. This has been a truly amazing summer. If you missed a DSCVRY this summer, you forgiven. However, you won’t want to miss this one. Fresh off an insane set at Boiler Room LA and live set at New York’s MoMA PS1, DSCVRY proudly presents…….This month guest: SINJIN HAWKE (Pelican Fly Records)

Even though “The Lights EP” (Pelican Fly) was his official release, Sinjin Hawke has been putting in work for quite some time. He launched a groundbreaking series of parties in Montreal, Boomclap, featuring artists like Dj Rashad, Lunice, Canblaster, Africa Hitech, Dubbel Dutch, Jacques Greene and more, he’s released a slew of club ready bootlegs with dutch vanguard Truants, and has graced an abundance of venues throughout Europe and North America.Off of the widespread appraisal of ‘The Lights EP’, he’s begun to set quite a stage for himself: collaborating with DJ Sliink, Canblaster, Morris, Riton, Sinden – remixing for DJ Assault, the Ghettoteknitianz, Lemonade, and Danny Brown – mixtaping for URB and RinseFM – and rumors of a computer-less live set floating around… 2012 is looking like a big year for Sinjin Hawke. http://www.xlr8r.com/features/2012/07/bubblin-sinjin-hawkeYour Hosts:NIXXED BLNGxBDGTDoors at 10, Dancefloor til 2 amPhotos by Tyrone Demery Lights by Life Is Art StudiosTwitter Hash: #DSCVRY
